The beach is crowded with people
For a space of their own they struggle
The children are building sand castles
Grown ups are busy with air castles

I have no idea how that happened.
Right on! Absolutely! I love the way you make it so subtly significant, the difference in the thinking and the ploys of innocence and experience!
Thank you Usha! π

I would like to go back to building sand castles…
Who wouldn’t eh Dhiren?? π
Very beautiful. Have you tried Haiku before?
This is a quatrain Pal. I have tried my hand at Haiku. Will post itoneof these days. Thanks!
Castles in the air are also needed … we need our dreams π
Of course IHM! What would we do without them??
Children for all their pretend play are rooted to the ground while we can be so urealistic, right?
That’s one way of looking at it Roopa! π

As for me, building a castle near the sea was a dream! I built them in air like the way I build them now at this age π (((((hugs))))) nice one mumma!!! π
Dreams will yet come true Bubbly! Thanks da. Hugs to you.
i was at the beach today building my air castles….on the drive back..pop went everything as i got into reality..air castles are brilliant at times…you can take refuge in them …though briefly
Hmmm.. yes these short interludes keep us going Bindu.
ah,loved the last line..Simply beautiful..
You remind me of my days when i used to write poems, which were ‘not so bad’ and my friends would read and appreciate..These days,i don’t feel like even reading poems, let alone writing..times changes,i changed…
Thanks Nimmy for the appreciation. Hey why did you stop writing?? Perhaps you will take it up again some day. BTW, here is a little secret. I hardly read poems. Yet here I am inflicting them on unsuspecting people!! π
Oh Shail, this reminds me of one of my Daddy’s favourite quotes: Build castles in the air — that’s where they belong! Now put foundations under them.
Wow, that’s a nice one from your Dad, Gulshan. We cannot neglect the foundations ever!
Lovely imagery.
Thanks you Vivek!
this advani is irritating !!
I agree with you totally Dhiren! π¦
Wah wah! Nice observation! Yu know yu shud try writing these in urdu, if yu know the language. The beauty of the language will well complement the simplicity of the thought. English is less suited, so I think.
Thanks Rhett. I know what you mean… but unfortunately I don’t know the language, only enough to appreciate some of it when I hear.
