This was written in answer to a tag over at sulekha.com. I was tagged by two of my friends, Kalpita tagged me to write about who I would like to kiss under the mistletoe (real or imaginary) and Edwin tagged me to write about my first kiss. I answered them at one go, in a single sweep. Here is what I told them:
Who would I want to kiss
Beneath the misltetoe
Kalpita wants to know
To her tag I cannot say ‘no’!
Then along comes Edwin
And puts me in a spin
‘You are tagged pretty Miss
Tell us of your first kiss’
Sulekha seems a-buzz
With spicy tales of buss
Should I reveal all
Or just make up a tale tall??
If I were not Shaila
But the legendary Laila
I would kiss Majnu
And whisper, ‘I love you’
As Shakespeare’s Juliet,
Romeo I would have bussed
And as Heer I would wait
For my Ranjha to be kissed
But I am good old Shaila
Not Heer, Juliet or Laila
Who do I want it to be
Holding and kissing me??
My love, the one I adore
With all my heart and more
Is the one I’d want to kiss
And never would want to miss.
Now coming to my first kiss
Sorry Edwin, got to admit this
I have not the least memory
Back then, I was a bawling baby.
Was it the one who gave birth
Or the one who brought her to earth??
As she held me to her chest
Was she who kissed me first??
At last I am done with my homework
The tags are done like clockwork
So friends, am I let off the hook??
Can I get back to my housework??

How do words spring like a fountain;
To me it is hard as climbing a mountain.
Do you pluck it from the air?
or do they fall on your lap without a care?
Me: You are already spouting words like a fountain PRG!! π
I have come back to add this:
You are spouting words like a fountain
It isn’t as hard as climbing a mountain
Just prod your gray cells into action
With a gourd full of magic potion! ( That’s an Asterix and Obelix fan speaking!! π )
That is so very loving,
Housework is so boring,
!!!!!!

Shail,
This is awesome writing. Loved the rhyme of Shaila and Laila.
Kissing is like drinking salted water; you drink and your thirst increases.
Cheers,
Sal
Me: Thanks Sal!
Kissing is like drinking salt water
You drink a little your thirst says ‘encore!’
This is a fact we cannot ignore
So without much ado kiss some more!

Me: Thanks da Bubbly. You know something?? Never long to be like some one else. Be your own self and you will be amazed at the result. This is the advice from someone from Neptune, not Earth. π
That wasn’t any fun;
Fully intended pun;
Tell us the real stuff π
Don’t dodge us and run…
Me: Haha Rakesh,
I know it wasn’t fun
And that was intended pun
Let me dodge and run

Lol!
That was really neat! You and IHM make a grand rhyming pair, honestly!
Nary a word not in place
And yet you charm at that pace!
Who kissed, who did not
Your answers intrigue, a lot π
But shail, we will not wail
Or even send you a mail
To make sure that we avail
Other details of the kiss tale :D!!!
My two bytes of rhyme.. irresistible, when you and IHM, do this π
Me: Your two bytes of rhyme as you call it was awesome Usha!
Who kissed me who did not
My answers seem to intrigue you a lot
For Fort Knox am I not
To reveal many have tried a lot!!
very sweet !!!
Me: Thanks Bindu! π
Shaila, not only that you have done your tag so beautifully in lovely verse, but you have also pulled out so many more blogger friends who are poets. Thanks for doing that. Aur is se pahley ki “main kaheen kavi na ban jaoon teri padh ke yeh kavita’ i will close my comment.
Me: Yes, I agree with you on that. Look at Usha’s and PRG’s responses! You should have tried your hand too. BTW looks like you are a Rafi fan. Thanks for your appreciation Balvinder.
bravo! super!
clap clap clap
Me: Thank you thank you Shilpa! *takes a bow* π
Ha ha. A befitting end! The words are rhymed well.
“At last I am done with my homework
The tags are done like clockwork
So friends, am I let off the hook??
Can I get back to my housework??”
Keep Blogging!
Me: Thanks Biju for the appreciation! π
I try to do my bit
To rhyme and make words fit
And when readers notice it
I am thrilled, I do admit.
Ohh was i supposed to rhyme,
Sorry I didnt realise on time,
Albeit now I am late,
Making up is now my fate,
Assume a long one should do,
What else can I do,
Valentines is today,
Love is in the air today,
Victory has come to Aam Junta,
As ends the raj of goonda’s,
Talking of kisses,
Well i had a lot of misses,
But today started with a kiss,
It was wife and not any miss,
Valentine has won the day,
Guess it makes us all happy and gay !!
Me: Thanks Dhiren, that was wonderful!
Hey that was an excellent way
To start Valentine’s day
Now for aam junta let’s clearly say
Three cheers… Hip Hip Hooray!!
LOL this sounds like fun.
Though only thing hot
We have here got,
Is some not so subtle pun π
It’s obvious Shail,
doesn’t kiss and tell.
Me: Haha IHM, that was good!
IHM says it clear as a bell
Shail obviously doesn’t kiss and tell
Thus rests matters in a nutshell
Let me now go answer the doorbell.
Yes Shail, i am a Md Rafi fan to the core of my heart. Read my post “My Exploits on Stage” under the lebel ‘my traits’. I have tried my hand at poetry too. Go to my other blog “Kalpana ki Udaan” under links.
like always i am filled with wonder!! i am amazed !
i was verry interested to see who was your first kiss and who is your love…..and i still dont know!but what love declaration :
“My love, the one I adore
With all my heart and more
Is the one Iβd want to kiss
And never would want to miss.”
i love it !!!
