In different proportions
Sharp-edged thorns that prick
Buds soft as silk
Roots to hold the growing branches
Leaves that ‘cook’ and aim to nourish
Flowers that unfold in colors bright and light
Sober browns that soothe the sight
Rays that stream revealing the beauty within
Sometimes concealing what is on the other side
Dark corners hiding angst, anger, may be deceit?
Gnawing worms, hidden too well.
Gossamer webs some here, some sticking there
Of dreams and fantasies untold
In each one of us they all reside
In proportions alone, they differ, let us be aware.
– Shail Mohan (Sept 2011)

Heheh… thank you! 😀
True. “In proportions alone, they differ”. Makes all the difference!
@indianhomemaker,
Yes it does! 🙂
Very nice, HRP. Like many of your poems,”In different proportions” soothes and relaxes me, finishing with a thought beneficial for me to remember. Thanks for sharing, dear Shail.

@Bob Hoff,
Thank you Bob. Glad it soothed you 🙂
Praise you in 4 lines I can’t,
for this extraordinary slant,
of comparing life with a plant.
All I can say is writers like you are very scant.
A beautiful verse to go with a beautiful picture.
@Govind,
Thank you 🙂
