Happy Onam!
A floral carpet
of multi-hued petals
meticulously laid
in intricate patterns.
A labor of love
to welcome home
Mahabali,
king of yore
still living on in hearts
as more than just a lore.
– Shail Mohan (Sept 2011)
Incidentally, this pookkalam or floral pattern won the second place in the Keraleeyam Onappookkalam competition for the team of which my sis in law was a part.

Happy Onam Shail. Getting to spend Onam in my hometown after ages. My niece and I manged to make a pookkalam with the flowers and leaves in my sister’s garden. Loved it:-)
@Nadira,
Ahhh lovely 🙂 Thank you. Hope you enjoyed your time at hometown immensely 🙂
Beautiful Pookkalam Shail. When I was doing my post-grad, we used to celebrate Onam in college by making pookkalam and payasam 🙂
Here’s a tiny snap of the one we had made :- http://momofrs.wordpress.com/2010/02/18/those-were-the-days/
(okay, so we had professional keralite seniors who did the actual work….but chopping petals throughout the night wasn’t all that easy either 😀 )
Also, Happy Onam to you and your family 🙂

All important roles, I’m sure. It’s beautiful. Thank you for visiting my page.
