What are you good at?

Hmm… That’s a good question. In fact I will go so far as to say that it’s an excellent question.

For one it is a question about me, and who else could know me better than myself? So answering that question is easy-peasy as far as I am concerned.

For another, there is this other rummy fact about me that even others who purport to know me—pardon me while I take a moment to laugh heartily at the presumption—know for a fact.

[Hmm…Am I strewing too many ‘knows’ and ‘facts’ and whatnot around? Egad, I hereby vow to stay away from too many of any word. Btw, the word ‘vow’ reminds me of something. Bear with me while I take a detour and tell you all about it.]

Well, the matter (See? I didn’t use ‘fact’ there!) is there is this someone I know who responds ‘Vow!’ in messages and comments each time there’s something wow happening.

I am sorely tempted to ask which kind of vows they want. Wedding, religious, friendship… tongue firmly in cheek, of course. But I doubt they would see the funny side of it. Sometimes I think I should discreetly send a private message bringing the difference to their notice. But I talk myself out of being that Good Samaritan.

There’s a reason. What do they say? Once bitten, twice shy. Also a burnt child dreads fire. I have been bitten and burnt, so I am both shy as well as filled with dread. Result? I keep my mouth zipped up and let people ‘vow’ all they want all over the place.

Apparently making a fool of yourself is way more acceptable in the present world than being put on the right track by a kind soul. So be it. It’s no skin off my nose. Just know this, personally I welcome corrections.

And now it’s time to get back to the matter at hand. What am I good at?

Umm…The answer is rather simple and straightforward. I can do a lot of things, but I am ‘good’ at nothing. Yes, NOTHING. You don’t believe me? Well, I just wrote a post about nothing. Isn’t it good enough to be called good?

By the way, what did you think I was suggesting? Surely not that I was good for nothing? That’s okay too. You see, some people do say that about me too! 😉
