Beauty can be found in the most unexpected of places. I found it in this fern growing in a crack in the roof. And when I found it, the gadget at hand came in handy. The phone is a boon, really.
There is a story behind the crack in the roof of the dog house. Yes, it is a dog house, which the owners of this house had got built for their dog. But then they had to move and they leased it to us, the house I mean, not just the dog house. Luci though has never once stayed in it, except for a few minutes the day she jumped into the well and when rescued, had to be stopped from running into the house with all the muck covering her.
One day, the neighbors were getting their tree (Anamika) cut, down to size if I may say so. The stupid guy doing the cutting let a HUGE branch fall right into our yard and right on top of the ‘dog house’. A chunk of concrete broke off from the roof and a crack was formed. I yelled ‘What the heck do you think you are doing?’. The guy on the tree pretended to not hear, the neighbor looked the other way. So that had to be left at that.
Today I found this pretty fern growing from the same place where a piece of the roof had broken off, and thought, ‘Look at that! A thing of beauty!‘

It’s really amazing how plants will survive with determination in all kinds of places. And this tiny fern is so pretty!
Yes, it is amazing how the instinct of survival works.
The beauty of nature has found a foothold in the scar left by the carelessness of humankind.
You have put it beautifully, Anne :).
