Abha of Daffodils has conferred me with the Versatile Blogger Award. This is third person giving it to me, though this time it comes with a different badge. Thank you, Abha. I am truly honoured and very pleased because I hate to be slotted. So when someone thinks I am worthy of being called a “versatile” blogger I am genuinely happy about it.
Updated on 11/02/12 to add: The Versatile Blogger Award has been conferred again by Bindu, Usha (in return) and now by KMKH too. I am honored, considering how I value the ‘versatile’ label. people. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
The Rules for the Versatile Blogger Award says:
Nominate 15 fellow Bloggers
Inform the Bloggers of their nomination
Share 7 Random things about yourself
Thank the Blogger who nominated you
Add the Versatile Blogger Award picture to your Blog Post
Everything is well and clearly defined. But fifteen bloggers?! Golly, I don’t even know as many! I guess I will tag as many as I can find. So here goes:
Wow! Fifteen?!!
The most difficult part of the tag is writing seven random things about myself. Nope, it is not because I am coy. You all read so much about myself at my Nest that I wonder what random things exist that I might add here now! Anyways I will try really hard to come up with something.
- I love the number seven.
- I am pissed off by know-it-alls and jumper-to-conclusion. You say “A’ and before you know it, they are somewhere at L, M, N , O, P or Q if not already at X,Y and even beyond Z. Slow down a bit will ya folks? There are a lot of other alphabets to cross before you can reach Z and especially me.
- I really freak out on Kannada songs sung by Sonu Nigam (Thank you Sumana) these days and also some Marathi songs (Thank you Suranga). That reminds me, if any of you are willing to, please pass on the titles of songs you think are good, be they of any language. I’d love to listen. My collection includes, Greek and Algerian.
- Now I sleep and wake up according to the whims and fancies of Luci. I guess there is no one who does not know who Luci is.
- I love reading historical novels and have a time that is past come alive in front of my eyes through the skilful use of words by excellent writers.
- I am amused and amazed by the way talk about religion/language/region brings out the fanatic in people who till then I had “assumed” were rational beings.
- I saved this for the last. I got myself a new laptop, Sony Vaio. Today. Yippee.
Now I’ll wait to read what those tagged have to say. Cheers! Once again, thank you Abha.
Updated on 24/12/11 to add: Mysoul has also given me the versatile Blogger Award. Thank you! 🙂
Congratulations 🙂 . Good choice with the Sony VAIO. I use it myself and it’s still going strong after over three years.

Yayyyyyy yesssss me got a award yayyyy. Thank you so much I will do it for sure…
And sony vio laptop yayyyyyy again…
Yaay indeed for the Sony. There were a lot of hitches before I finally got it! Phew.
Will wait for your ‘award’ post. 🙂
You have inspired me to listen to songs in other languages 😉
And i too luv the number 7 🙂
Happy surfing and blogging with the hew lappy!
Thanks Abha. I am sure you will enjoy songs form other languages. Try it! 🙂
Congratulation!! Share your experience with your new laptop, all of us bloggers (I think) are gadgets crazy 🙂 Even the cats and dogs who we belong to enjoy blogs and the www 🙂
You have to tag 45 people, 15 for each badge you received 😀
Your footer area looks so neat!!!! Love this new place!
Thanks! I think first I have to write about how I finally got my hands on it. Hehe… You are right about us being gadget crazy. 🙂
Oh no. That was the earlier Versatile Blogger award. I have already done that tag 😛 So there, I needn’t tag 45 😉
I have to add a few more things to the footer. So many things to do that I end up doing nothing, only playing with Luci! 😛
Now that Luci has her own blog, you will have a lot of free time 😉
Congratulations, Shail! And thank you!!! (In the same breath!!)
Did not know about the number ‘7’, your love for songs in others languages.. 🙂 The rest we knew 😀 😀 :D! As you say, your sharing of yourself gives one a happy feeling of, in some way, “knowing” you! Thanks for the sharing… and the Award 🙂
Thank you and you are welcome! 🙂
2 + 5 = 7 😉
I guess that’s what tags do, give that feeling of ‘knowing’ 🙂

Congratulations first for the award! You deserve it 100%, Shail! I always admire you!
Will come back and read later.
Thank you Sandhya 🙂
yay!!! I get an award! After such a long time!! Thank you Shail! 😀
You listen to Greek and Algerian songs?! wow!!
Sonu Nigam has sung some lovely songs in Kannada! 🙂 🙂
My all time fave song has been sung by him!
Sony Viao is a good laptop!
Stating 7 more random things about myself is difficult when the entire blog is all about ME! 😀 😀 😉
Yo are welcome Pixie. i came across the Algerian one by accident. Bollywood has copied it to the letter, rather note in ‘Kaali nagin ke jaise zulfein teri kaali kaali’. Here is the original: http://youtu.be/DuPhCmmfKiE Since I loved it I started listening to others too. As for Greek, a cousin shares lovely music on fb 🙂
Tell me how you like it 🙂
I loved the music! Thank you for sharing it.. and yea, its a ditto copy!!
I’m learning a Russian folk song and another one where the music is so familiar, I know its been copied by Bollywood in some songs, but haven’t been able to narrow it down!
Congratulations!
Glad to know others share my opinion about you and your writing.
You deserve it.
Enjoy your new Sony Vaio and see that Luci doesn’t chew it up.
She may get jealous.
My laptop lies negected these days, ever since the Ipad2 caught my fancy.
The Ipad2 is now my bed companion too!
It has become my “belly top” as I recline in bed and read blogs on it.
Regards
GV
Thank you GV! 🙂 Lol, yes, I am taking special care that Luci does not, now that she is tall enough to peek over table tops. She IS jealous by the way as I wrote in ‘Lessons from Luci’. No books or laptop to hold my attention more than 30 minutes. After that she barks in my ears so shrilly that it starts ringing! 😛
I gave my iPad to my younger son 🙂
Thanks Shail..will take up the tag..and congrats to you 🙂 you got a new laptop..lucky you 🙂
Thank you 🙂 Yeah I guess I am. It is a gift from the senior son 🙂
Honoured to be conferred an award by you 🙂 I once did a post on my quirks cld I just link to that please 😛
Songs in different langauges – wait till I pass on some japanese songs to you, I also have a video somewhere of a Japanese lady singing kabhi alvida na kehna – Its rather hilarious ! I love hostoric novels too !
Hmm… I too have done this seven-wala tag some time before and was wondering whether to link it. But the bother of looking for it made me decide against it 😛 😉
Yes, yes, yes! I want Japanese songs. I once (about 35 years back) heard a girl sing one (she had been to Japan) and to this day I remember the tune and the first 4 lines. It went, “Makina kaninge..” At least that’s what the girl sang! 🙂
Would love to watch the video, pls give me the link 🙂
Congratulations, Shail, you truly are a versatile blogger and you deserve this award in every way :). Thank you do much for tagging me, an honored :). Will surely take it up!
Yet to read the post in full, will come back to read it and comment in detail. Weekend here hence Internet embargo activated 😉
Am back :D. Always a pleasure to read you, Shail..was lovely to know a bit more about you :). Congratulations on your your new possession, Sony Vaio :).
Thank you Deeps 🙂 I had to wait a bit for the Sony Vaio coz I did not want a pink one 😛
Now I am waiting to read your post 🙂
Tag done. 🙂
OMG Now I shall have to blog! Thanks, Abha gave me this award too.
Lol, now that’s not difficult for someone like you, easy-peasy work. 😉
Congratulations, Shail! You are a very versatile blogger! Everytime, I read your posts/poems, I am entralled, so much so that I don’t even comment – mainly because I have nothing more to add 🙂
Thank you so much for tagging me, will definitely take it up soon. And congratulations on your Sony Viao. My old laptop was a Viao, and I loved it- much more than my new thinkpad!
Oh! *blush* Thank you so much Smitha 🙂 Oh, Lenova was where I was pointed, but my search took me to Vaio 🙂
err I hate it too when Sonu Nigam sings in other languages than in Hindi…in fact i think i don’t even like some of his hindi numbers too 🙄
I love historical fictions too…Have you read The Twentieth Wife? Smitha recommended it and I loved the entire trilogy 🙂
Have you heard this song? It’s blissful ……http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_45W-Lq7ftw
Errr.. you don’t like Sonu Nigam singing in other languages?! Why?
Yep, I heard of Indu Sundaresan from Smitha’s blog (review of Splendor of Silence, loved it). The book I read first was ‘The Twentieth Wife’. I have to read the rest of them now.
I loved the song! Thank you, thank you. 🙂
brrr and you tagged me? I can bet that no one wants to know random things about me 😥
But I am waiting to know 😉
Can you give me the list of Sonu Nigam’s Kannada songs please? I have lot touch with good Kannada songs. I know only old songs!
You are able to appreciate Greek and Algerial songs? Is it for the rhythm? Or are they melodious too?
The whole world knows who Luci is!
Congratulations for the award and Sony viao, Shail.
I have sent you the list Sandhya 🙂 My cousin posted some Greek songs and I loved them (melody). As for the Algerian song, I came across it while looking for a Hindi song (Kaali nagin ke jaise zulfe teri from Mann). Imagine its a copy of the Algerian song. I simply loved the original. 🙂 I also have one Bengali song, some Telugu songs, of course Tamil! 🙂 Go to Suranga’s page you can listen to some nice Marathi songs. I started from there and then found some on my own 🙂
Lol, yes Luci is now a world-famous dog! 😉
Thank you Sandhya. I am enjoying my Sony Vaio 🙂
I and my niece who sings well, visit Suranga’s place for good old Latha’s songs and we hear Marathi songs too. We go there to select good songs for my niece to sing in her college concert etc.! Though I am quite familiar with film songs, I tend to forget when needed. Her blog is handy for that!
I think our music directors steal Middle eastern songs for their rhythm and melody. We have got many old songs influenced by their music.
Congrats on the Versatile Blogger award
You are at the top as everyone regard
What will others do if all the awards you hoard?
It isn’t your fault and congrats for the Vaio that you could afford.
Merry Christmas!
Lol, no I can’t afford Vaio. Its a gift 🙂
Errr.. btw I am not hoarding, but distributing the awards 😛 😉
Seasons Greetings to you too.
