A hill fortress on a hill about 760 meters above ground is not exactly the place you’d expect someone with a bad back choose to visit, yet that is exactly what I did. I refer to the Sinhagad Fort. True, a vehicle drove us most of the way up, but still there was lots more climbing to do to reach the fort and explore the ruins. With the patient Second Born with me, going about it felt much easier than it actually was.
The fort is thought to be 2000 years old. It was strategically built to provide natural protection due to its very steep slopes, says Wiki. It had been the site of many battles, most notably the Battle of Sinhagad in 1670.
