Have you ever started writing something and left it half way through for some reason or other, then come back and found you have absolutely no clue what it was all about? A while back, looking through my drafts, I found this staring at me:

It was an orderly room, a place for everything and everything in its place. It made me wonder about its occupant. He was not long coming. The front door crashed open and footsteps could be heard coming towards the room. Shortly afterwards a boy stepped in, sliding a backpack off his shoulder and carefully propping it against the wall next to the table. I had moved nothing from its place and yet he paused as if the disturbance in the air in his room revealed to him that someone else was

That’s it, an abrupt stop, as if something urgent took me away in the middle of writing, and now I am left wondering where exactly I had intended taking this.
