Today the L&M leaves the hammer on the compound wall after he’s done using it and it is found by an inquisitive young Rufous Treepie. What follows is duly captured by yours truly due to sheer luck, only by stepping out on the balcony at the right moment.

What is this odd shaped thing?

Better check if anyone is around before I take a closer look.

There’s a Myna. Hope he doesn’t want it as well.

Phew, Myna has flown off. But I haven’t still figured this thing out.

It sure is hard and more than a mouthful!

May be pecking at it will help.

What if it were some kind of perch?

Hmm.. useless perch, it doesn’t sway in the breeze.

I am outta here. Tree branches are better any day.

Beautifully done..and such a sweet story! Have a great weekend!
Thank you, Susan. You too! 🙂
Trini Lopez’s ‘If i had a hammer’ comes to mind
When Rufous Treepie the tool doth find
Trini hammered all day
But Rufous flew away
When, of use, it showed nary a sign!
Thanks for sharing the video, Gul. And your limerick is on the spot, as usual! ❤
Lovely! You can thank the L&M for this series!
Indeed, yes! 😀
Loved the story and the pictures! Normally, I have never seen this bird outside the trees.
It is a very inquisitive bird. Remember I had posted pictures when it came to perch on the fan in the bedroom? And how angry Luci had been! 😀
Love this series…
Beautiful pics!
Thank you 🙂 I have a couple of more series in the offing about the treepies 🙂
