………because she wants to. Duh!
Isn’t there something seriously wrong with brains that cannot grasp such a simple and straightforward matter?
To blog, strange as it may seem to some ignoramuses, the lady does not need the permission, approval or blessings of anyone. Blogs are free and pages can be set up by anyone. Blogging is not a job with a particular job profile/description and guidelines on what can or should be written by the bloggers. Hence, the topics she writes about are those that she picks and chooses according to her interests (call it her whims and fancies) and certainly not what others dictate to her. After all it is HER page.
The lady is well within her rights to air her views on a page so set up, as long as she is also within the legal framework to do so. She is NOT obliged to represent views of either Amar, Akbar, Antony (or others like them) however much they so wish. So please don’t ask her in that officious and petulant manner of yours why she does not write about this or that topic or why horror of horrors, the media does what it does. Imagine taking to task the author of a personal blog about the shortcomings of the country’s media. Besides, the lady feels those who want the media to make a noise about something must move their own goddamn butt and do something about it rather than harass bloggers to do their work for them.
Commenting on her blog page is a privilege not a bloody right bequeathed to every Amar Akbar and Antony or for that matter their female versions (though frankly speaking the female of the populace have not as yet come dictating terms to me), who think with a little manipulation they can hijack the conversation to the direction they choose because unfortunately so, they don’t have the calibre to “see” the point she is making. She actually understands this fact that there might be people who cannot get the res of what she is conveying, especially with the weird sense of humor she has and that is an admission. But one thing is reiterated:
This page has NOT been set up for those of you who have pet peeves and want a platform to air your views. On the contrary, it has been set up by the lady to air her own pet peeves and views. She can and will continue doing that. After all, this is HER page and certainly holds HER views. Period.
Pssst, those who have skimmed through a single post and have formed an opinion that the lady is a man-hater, please be her guest. The last time she tried, in spite of your name-calling, the rice she put on the stove still got cooked when boiled (to twist a Mallu saying). (Updated to add: Whaddya know, if speaking up against molesters and oppressors makes the lady a man-hater, she proudly and gladly would wear the badge if one would kindly be issued to her. In that case, please make it on a mass scale because apart from women, there are quite a large number of men too, who are against molesters and so would be needing badges)
The truth of the matter is that no amount of calling her a man-hater (or even man-lover for that matter) is going to change an iota of who she actually is. According to the Bard a rose by any other name smells as sweet. So regardless of your name-calling or rather in spite of it, she is who she is.
I am wondering who asked you , why you blog..
its your blog , you shud be writing what you want to ..
hijacking the conversation.. now that is a two way process sometimes the person might not understand what you are trying to say or ur point of view.. and the likes of me who are dumb and idiots sometimes use their mind and think it the other way round.. I would say at that time you should point them or atleast ME , if i have done it, to the right direction.. How will I learn otherwise .. that is my personal view..
but why would someone be name calling and who does it .. I hope that noise thing is not pointed at me .. cause i have written a lot of comments about making the noise .. SO now i am thinking myself … anyway do let me know ..
And no one should change for anyone .. anytime
Let me assure you and any others that this blog is not aimed at any of my regular readers. 🙂
phewwwwwwwwwwwww I got worried there 🙂 he he he I thought I shud not make the Noise then .. BUT email me who it is and where and I promise to sort it out..
You make all the noise you want, no worries 🙂
Shail- I shared it 🙂
🙂
I wanted to write such since the beginning of this year..
I get pings, comments(which I spam it) and email asking questions such as
why do I write ONLY about women, why do I hate men,why do I have problems with the society,Who am I to advise people,Why do I potray women as the epitome of all good things in the world etc
The worst is when I see emails and comments with “nee aaradi athu parayaan”,”pennanu ennulla vichaaram nallathanu” types
That’s it “Pennanu ennulla vichaaram nallathanu” (For the non-Mallus, it means ‘its good to remember that you are a woman).Nee aradi ithu parayan (who the hell are you to say this?)
Doesn’t that explain a lot? As a woman there is some limit you are not supposed to cross. Cowards. They feel totally threatened by any strong opinion women express, that’s why such responses.
God! That line! too often have we heard it, and still do! Grrrr!
Grrr..yes
They should know that first It’s good to remember that you are a human.
I don’t think they know it about themselves. They are delusional that they are some superior beings from outer space come to rule over women 😛
Oh I got many such comments when I started blogging. To those people I say Phsxyx%$# and today HT has me on the front page with the article heading screaming Blogging Takes a Novel Turn : so there!
I read it! 🙂 Congratulations!
Shail,
Ignore such idiots. Although I must say that it is fun to argue with such people because they eventually come to abuses. The fun is to see how long they take to reach that point. And then – block them. Simple.
‘So there!’ sort of sums it up nicely. 🙂 But I am loathe to let an opportunity to stick my tongue out at such buggers go. Imagine coming to MY page and asking why I am not writing about HIS topic of interest. The mind boggles at the STUPIDITY of such people.
I’ve decided to bin such questions Shail. If they can’t form a coherent opinion on the subject at hand and debate intelligently – they don’t deserve space on my blog. I’ll be damned if some two-bit brainless idiot gets his/her yahoos by ‘questioning’ why I write the stuff I write on MY blog on MY time using MY brains. They can go exercise their freedom of speech in front of buffalos for all I care.
Exactly. I agree. You should see some of them questioning, “Then why do you write a blog on a public domain?”
‘Excuse me, just because my house is visible through the open gate does not mean you can walk in and make yourself comfortable. If you are civil and speak intelligently you may be allowed to stay. If not, you will be banned from my property.” That about says it for me.
I am curious to know who the person was who provoked you to write this hard hitting post.
Just what did he say and and in which blog post?
Did you publish his comment?
I wouldn’t mind reading it and your reply if any.
Or, was his comment moderated and is this post your answer to him?
If you would rather not reveal that, it’s okay.
Anyway, you are perfectly right.
Any blogger should be able to write whatever he/she wants and if readers don’t agree they can always put forth their views without attacking the blogger personally.
I agree it’s the blogger’s privilege to write on subjects of his/her choice, whenever he/she pleases and no one should be asking why the blogger has not written on some other subjects. At best the reader can suggest to the blogger a subject and request / invite the blogger to write on the subject. It is then the blogger’s privilege to accept or reject the suggestion and no explanation is due.
The reader who demands to know why a blogger has NOT written on a particular subject is free to write his own blog if he has the capacity to do so.
Nearly every blogger I know has been fair to his/her readers and always accommodated views of readers who disagree. They have a reasonable moderation policy.
But I recall one blogger who had a policy to publish only those comments that praised the blog or comments that were in agreement. At first reading it appeared to be a very popular blog, going by the laudatory comments.
It took time for me and some other readers to realise this.
Then one reader blew the whistle about this blogger in his own blog and soon others joined the chorus and it was clear that the blog only appeared popular as the blogger had moderated nearly every single comment that rebutted the views expressed in the blog.
One commenter then started his own temporary blog, in which he invited all readers of the original blog to post their censored comments on HIS blog for the benefit of all readers.
The defaulting blogger is now no longer active.
Regards
GV
I wouldn’t have minded showing you the thread. But the person has suddenly turned coy and removed some of the stuff. It wasn’t on any blog but on FB and the same things were posted as comments here. I refused to approve them. Isn’t there a saying in Tamil that says, you know what’s gonna happen when the bull lifts its tail. Similarly, I knew where the supposedly mild question of “What was the girl doing in the bar?” going. You don’t need to be too intelligent to understand the implications of the question.
I can understand curiosity, I cannot understand nonsense
The same here 🙂
I guess no one ever taught them to “not say anything if you cant say anything good or anything relevant to the topic.” *sigh* I love how they think any space is their space, especially if its a woman’s….Hrmph!
Hmm… How did I miss your comment?! And you are absolutely right!
We’ve all me the person who tells us “Why don’t you write about THIS issue” and “You’re a hypocrite because you haven’t talked about THAT”.
This is a long standing tradition of stupidity. Even if you”re standing up for say Free Speech, some joker will come and say “People are starving! Write about that!” As if when you write about one thing, you have to take on all the troubles of the entire world on your shoulders.
I truly wish people were a lil bit smarter…
One word: Whoa!!
Hey, feel like writing more than one word…Hats off to you, Lady! Wonder who it was, but in a way, I thank him/her for making you write this. I wish I had a fraction of the confidence, the articulation and the humour that you have displayed in this post!
RajK
Uh oh, I’d meant my comment as a comment on the blogpost, not as a reply to this gentleman. Sorry about the mixup!
RajK
Thank you Raj 🙂
@Bhagwad, Exactly the way I feel. 🙂
See, this is why people around me don’t know I blog! Very few of my “real” friends know I write.
Because of these stupid questions!
I was also asked once – “Your husband doesn’t mind?!” Sheesh!!
hey pixie this happened to me also.. ppl ask, “u write about ur MIL, ur hubby doesnt get angry?? “.
Such questions are so irritating na?! and I’ve been rendered speechless by such stupidity so many many times!!
Yeah people are stupid that way. I agree Pixie.
It’s ridiculous that someone brands you as a man-hater when you write about the atrocities in our society. pahh….and don’t tell me these people have a set of rules for female bloggers??? 😡
Yeah, looks like they do have. Anyone talking against molesters are man eaters. But then there are some really good men (bloggers) out there who take offence when you talk of ‘men’! Is it so hard to understand which sort of men we are talking about?!!!
Whoever this ridiculous person was, he surely does not need any more attention! Hope he stops frequenting this space… Good riddance to bad rubbish!!
Indeed 😉
Atta Gurl! WAY To Go!! 🙂 🙂
Proud to know you! And yes, Darn it! This is your God-darn-page, so go on 🙂 🙂
Thank you Usha 🙂
Hi Shail, I have an award for you on my blog!
OMG, where where? Coming over pronto!
Blog on!! She should blog on and on and on! Such comments might keep trickling in now and then and that is an indication of the fact that your opinions and thoughts do ruffle few feathers 😀 Where is the “super-like” button? 😀
Lol, thank you David for the super like.
Haven’t seen you for long. Been busy? 🙂
shail, u should have just ignored the comment made by the person or say even if you are, what is his/her problem.. it is non of their business.. u have freedom to express ur views on ur blog.. this post is good answer indeed, just nt for that particular person but for others thinking in same line too.
Exactly, this is for all those who think on those lines 😉
Here is a list of objections submitted by the FIDIO (Federation Internationale des Idiots Online)
Amar: Why you no writ (past tense of write) blog phore poor man eating humble pie in home of “Hunterwali” wife?
Akbar: Why always blame rapist? He also victim of sexxy clothe weared by the shameless wimmen.
Anthony: Always always blame man only? You forget woman born out of man rib. Man is always powerful and right. Ask Swami Agnivesh.
There is a list of objections from Tom, Dick and Harry too but their main objection is why you mentioned Amar Akbar Anthony only and not Tom Dick and Harry. It is bad grammar.
If you are wondering why they submitted the list to me…errr..umm they think I am their President.
PS : Carry on blogging.
Lol Vivek, you are funny. Thank you, I will do just that, keep on blogging I mean.
