Brother (the Brother-in-Law) is talking to brother (Lord & Master) over the phone.
B-i-L: So is your kitten still around or has run away??
L & M: Its here alright.
B-i-L: What have you all named it??
L & M : Pepper
B-i-L: What??
L & M: Pepper….
B-i-L: What was that again?? (laughs)
L & M: (repeats) Pepper… (then in Malayalam) Kurumulaku!
B-i-L: Oho! (in all seriousness) Enna nee oru karyam cheyyu. Oru mutta eduthu, bull’s eye undakki ninte kurumulakum kootti adiykku… (Then do one thing, take an egg, make a bull’s eye and have it with some of your pepper)
I am not taking chances, currently guarding Pepper with my life 😐
Can you find Pepper in this picture??
Laxmi said:
from L&M? REALLY?? (face all angered, eyebrows knit!)
😀
Shail said:
@Laxmi,
😛 😛 What if he takes it into his head to his elder bro?? 😉
I want to share a video with you of L & M and Pepper. Will upload it later today 🙂
Laxmi said:
@Shail, I’ll take all videos of pepper – if you know who comes as a part of them. LOL
Shail said:
@Laxmi,
Sorry, got busy and couldn’t. Today is the day …and of course I know! 😉
Uma said:
LOL! – does Pepper know abt the plot? The way she’s hiding in the picture, it looks like she knows 🙂
Shail said:
@Uma,
She must have heard! 😉
Welcome to Sjhail’s Nest Uma 🙂
Usha said:
LOL! Paavam.. as Uma says, the way she has only her ears and eyes showing… I wonder if she heard the conversation!
Shail said:
@Usha,
But she is no pavam!! She thinks we are cats too and jumps at us unexpectedly and scratches and bites with gay abandon!:O 😛
Anita Menon said:
Awwww. Pepper’s so cute. I can see her from behind the plantain.
Shail said:
@Anita Menon,
Welcome to Shail’s Nest Anita 🙂 Yep, there she is waiting to see what the camera toting lady would do next! 🙂
UmaS said:
Oh my….thats a cute pic of Pepper hiding…. 🙂 As I said before – those eyes tell so many things…. 🙂 🙂 She is just checking if all is clear and she can come out probably… 🙂
When u give the translation as kurmilagu, it sounds funny….but Pepper is very cute… 🙂 🙂
Shail said:
@UmaS,
Though she looks like that, actually she is waiting for the right time to jump on me! Hehehe… Lol, you are so right, kurumulagu sounds funny, bu believe me, I call her that too. There is a story of how I started calling a dog we had as Soap-box! 😉 It is there is this blog: When I tipped the wastepaper basket 😉
Sandhya said:
Oh god, she is literally hiding from her chiththappa!
Do you need help with our ‘man of the house’, Zorro, to protect peppeh?!
Shail said:
@Sandhya,
Periappa isn’t that what you call Dad’s elder brother??
Oh please send Zorro over for the damsel in distress. The name itself is reassuring! 😉
Sandhya said:
@Shail, Oh, elder brother means, Periappa, then!
At present our ‘man of the house’ has got a big, hollow wound below his ear, after his battle with other warriors in the battle ground, fighting for women! My poor husband takes time in the morning and night to apply medicine in the wound (he has got real patience, as far as Zorro, his cat, is concerned!) and now we have started hearing ‘woooon wooon’ fighting sound outside our house again…the battle has started!
The two women(Jinju and her daughter, Goalie had one set of kittens each)of the house had their sterilization done and my husband is taking Zorro for his sterilization, next weekend…he is fed up of treating the wounds!
Shail said:
@Sandhya,
A mass sterilisation drive! Lol. I hope Zoro gets well soon. 🙂
Ruchira said:
Ohhh there it is .. so cute …. I am sure she”s heard and understood every word of what your husband and BIL spoke about and she is not taking any chances 🙂
Shail said:
@Ruchira,
That is exactly how she looks, isn’t it?? 😀
Phoenixritu said:
Behind the plantain … did she eavesdrop on the gory plan? Smart kitteh
Shail said:
@Phoenixritu,
Yep, she is one smart kitteh! Lol.
Indian Homemaker said:
Yes we saw him, all of us did 🙂 Absolutely adorable!! Pepper is discussed at our place like some people discuss Sachin Tendulkar.
Shail said:
@Indian Homemaker,
Oh wow, she seems to have captured quite a few hearts! 😀

I spotted Pepper in thirty seconds.
I was preparing to save the picture, and use the software tool Paint to draw an arrow pointing to his head and ears peeping out from near the banana leaf in the left half of the picture somewhere near mid height of the picture panel. Who knows, there might be a secret surprise gift for the successful Pepper spotter
Too late. All your commenters so far have already spotted Pepper. So much for my supposed special powers of observation.
Keep Pepper safe! In 1993 I was posted for three months in a certain far eastern country where cats are a delicacy. I was repelled by the sight of cat fur on sale in stalls on the road side. The insides had been eaten already.
Keep us updated on Pepper’s antics.
Where is the video? Will come back later for the video.
Regards
GV
Shail said:
@G Vishwanath,
Lol, many with the same observation powers! 🙂 OMG I am glad I am not living somewhere where cats are a delicacy! :O
The video is to be posted in FB. Here is the link of an earlier one: http://www.facebook.com/v/10150151431470295

@Shail,
Great video.
Enjoyed it.
The upholstery on the sofa matches the colour of Pepper’s fur!

@G Vishwanath,
The first thing we noticed when she came home! 🙂
Scorpria said:
Hahahahahaha…rofl material!
And i’m sure pepper overheard him. Look how she’s hiding, completely camouflaged!
(damn it! i think i’m starting to like cats! :-O. Well, in my defense, i’ve always liked kittehs. its the cat i cant stand. but i loooove the big cats — the lions and the tigers and the cheetahs and the leopards 😉 ;))
Shail said:
@Scorpria,
Her color goes in her favor. She is so well camouflaged most times! Lol, kittens are a different kettle of fish, you really fall for them and their ways unlike grown up cats. As for the big cats….!!! I love them too.
Rajlakshmi said:
hehehe pepper thats a cute name…
yup saw it :d near the banana leaf 😀
Shail said:
@Rajlakshmi,
She is the color of Pepper and I must say the name suits her nature too! 😀
vaidegi j said:
aaww!! so sweet, hiding ready for a pounce mebe! ive been getting these calls from inside, to go for a cat, after a longish while, and there seems to be signs all around, telling me to go ahead, without much ado! 🙂
Shail said:
@vaidegi j,
Lol, of course she is waiting to pounce on me! 🙂 Ahh, signs! 🙂
Kamikaze said:
Schweeeeet! Pepper reminds me of my cat Chunky……my mom named it after ‘Chunky chaat masala’…… 😀
Shail said:
@Kamikaze,
Welcome to Shail’s Nest. Wow, Chunky is a lovely name and I am sure she was like chat masala! Chatpati si.
Agnija Bharathi said:
Pepper has such a wonderful coloration. WaMu and Newbie (a.k.a poli samiyaar — fake sadhu) send their “hello”s! BTW, saw the videos on FB. Very, very cute!
Shail said:
@Agnija Bharathi,
Thank you. Poli Samiyar? Lol that’s good. Hello to them from Pepper. Thanks for joining Pepper’s page. Now that I have Pepper I am on the look-out for Salt as suggested by my friend Patsy. I almost caught a white stray kitten off the road. But it ran away L & M rolled his eyes and said, ‘Oh no! Now what??” But I am sure if I get one, he will only have one more to lavish attention on!
Thanks for joining Pepper’s page!
Agnija Bharathi said:
@Shail, Hope you find a salt soon. Did pepper come back yet?
Shail said:
@Agnija Bharathi,
Yes she has. She has taken to this new habit of disappearing during the day time. She is never too far though and comes running when called. I think she has made friends with the girls staying next door (sort of hostel) and goes there to be fussed over! 😉
Reema said:
phew! felt like I am playing a hidden object game on computer! found her peeping. 🙂
