In your eyes
vestiges of a loss
the reverberations becloud mine
Summers are thorny
there is nowhere to hide
but
when the monsoons unleash in fury
and the skies cry unabashedly
the echoes of our pain
are swallowed
by the lashing rain
– Shail Mohan (Nov 2010)
And echoes of appreciation fill my heart π
When I but glance upon these words, your art
Painting with words, colouring with emotion
Letting us feel, tangibly, a simple notion!
The way this verse progresses, from the seemingly personal, to the universal, which is yet at once the singular individual feeling, is so elegantly crafted! The metaphors of summer and monsoon work magically too! As always, Shail, (and I shall never tire of telling you this π )I leave with a heart filled with an experience of joy π Thank you!
Oops… sentence constructs are at its worst in that comment π¦ Do excuse the errors, and take away the meaning only π π π
@Usha,
Thank you Usha. Your comment fills my heart with joy!!! π π

@Ramesh Sood,
Thank you π Rain conceals tears.
Oh yes, often we find comfort of that pain, in tears in the rain.
This is lovely.
@Celine,

Welcome to Shail’s Nest Teresa and thank you π
Hi Shail,
Oh the lashing of the rain to swallow our echoes of pain…I wish so…and that would be magic…:-)
Soothing verses you have penned Shail… π
My first time here, but will visit again…just live your link for every comment you make on my post and sure enough I will be here reading you too… π Good morning! π

Lovely post !!
@Nimue,
Welcome to Shail’s Nest and thank you π
are you referring to the rains here in tvm?? they are irritating, I tell you ! makes a fool out of me whenever I plan to take my bike ! Ughh !
@vimmuuu,
Lol, Its the same more than half the time in a year! Rain, rain and more rain. You might have to go back to singing ‘Rain rain go away’ whenever you plan to have a bike ride.
So you are back inaction in the blog world huh??! π
Tears do cleanse
and are welcome hence
they give us the license
to clear all worthless nonsense.
Are you alluding to the tears that wash away the pains or is it the rains that are washing away the tears? Great work Shail. Your obsession with tears continues :). Don’t make me cry for having said this π
@Govind,
The clue lies in ‘there is nowhere to hide’ in summer. The rain hides the tears π
Of course I will make you cry. I heard you are a good cook and you will have to whip up a meal for the L & M and I. I am sure you will have to peel and cut a lot of onions! π
“the echoes of our pain
are swallowed
by the lashing rain”
Lovely words! The image of the rain washing away one’s tears is both romantic and sad.
@The Reason You Come,
Welcome to Shail’s Nest π I agree, the image is both π
