Precious baubles
lusterless in disuse
I polish them with love
dipped in brine
and watch the dull shine
in the darkness that is now mine…
They once dangled
sparkling as they twirled
from the evergreen tree
whose leaves are lush
in every season
and will remain for eons
But the celebrations are over
too soon…
The valuable trinkets
are now useless
One last caress
with misty eyes
before they are locked away from light
and sight
in the faithful old iron chest
finally hidden and at rest.

The bauble has an analogy to life
A period of happiness that is rife
is followed by a period of strife
Is there any hope for an afterlife?

@Govind,
Thank you Govind 🙂
Aw… awesome! A poignant tribute to love, relationships, life itself, and festivities or the lack of them. Very nice, Shail!
@pallavi,
Thanks Pal 🙂
“Baubles”
Succinct and sensational,
Thoughtful and tender,
Perceptive and Philosophical

@Bob Hoff,
Thanks Bob 🙂
Sadly, celebrations are over too soon. Luckily we have these baubles to remind us of the good times. Poignant, Shail.
@Dreamer,
Yeah. Thanks Dreamer 🙂
Very poignant! But are the baubles locked away for ever? Or is there the possibility that they may be taken out again some day?
@manju,
It depends 🙂 If they not be needed again, they will remain locked, won’t they??
Thank you Manju 🙂
