Hibiscus syriacus is the name. Native to east Asia, but introduced extensively in Europe and North America. The syriacus in the name apparently comes from the fact that these flowers proliferated in the gardens of Syria. Their aliases include rose of Sharon, Syrian ketmia, shrub althea or althea, Korean hibiscus, and rose mallow.
These pictures are from my morning walk in one of the parks in Belgrade.

Beautiful flowers. I continue to have absolutely no idea of the names of flowers in my garden – other than ‘sunflowers’, accidently planted by feeding the birds with mixed seeds!
Your mention of sunflowers reminds me of my visit to sunflower fields. Iβll be posting those photos too. π
