A lot is happening this February. And I am not even talking of the everyday blog posts at Shail’s Nest.

A couple of days back a few friends and I, along with the L&M for a change, took the city tour bus ride. It is true I have been living in this city for donkey’s years (or a quarter century which according to me is the same as donkey’s years) and have seen pretty much of the sights of the city.

But

Not from THAT height.

By ‘THAT height’ I mean the upper deck of a double decker bus. So, tickets were promptly booked, and come evening, we hopped on to the bus and were on our way. I was all excited to take in the sights of the city from the front seats, so had booked the very first row for myself and the L&M.

But

To my disappointment, I found that the protective glass in front of the bus was full of scratches and water markings. Imagine looking through this at the lights of the city! What bad luck.

But

I made the most of it. A scratched glass or diffused light through it might elevate my level of annoyance at the higher ups who manage these things and should be keeping a better eye on things.

But

I was not going to let it dampen my spirits.

True, I’d have liked to put the lot of them on the mat for their careless management of things. And for not thinking things through before starting off with a city tour bus ride. I mean like, how the heck are we supposed to see the sights if you don’t have them well-lit up and identified for the night ride? What’s with the guide who lacks enthusiasm for the city? And LOUD music blaring in your ears for half of the ride. Like, really? Blind AND DEAF citizens, is that the assumption and/or goal?

But

Fact chance I’d get to do that, giving everyone a piece of my mind I mean.

So

Like I said, I made the most of it and decided that the next time (yup, there will definitely be a next time!) I’d book a seat towards the middle/end, and during the day, so I can escape the cloudy-glass-hindered view of my city and have a better, brighter look at it. Plus, I’ll remember to carry ear plugs too.

I just realised something. There are too many buts in life, and more importantly, I use more than my fair share of them in my blog posts! 🤭

(Of what else is happening in February will be revealed in upcoming posts, meanwhile ‘enjoy’ a few non-perfect pictures of my beautiful city)
