today
I overcame the urge
to let you in on my secret
the sky
had splintered
and a fragment fell
the debris flew
obliterating my view
then settled
I had survived for another battle
with
a broken leg
a missing arm
no fingers
on either palm
the heart has a hole
it remains unclosed
but
I overcame
the urge
to tell you my secret
that I was hurt
and needed to be
where soft-footed nurses
checked for pulse
fed through intravenous drips
and I could lay
unconscious
of the secrets I held.

Secrets un-shared
With injuries, paired
Is a sad tale of many GI Joes!
Lol, I love how you brought GI Joes into it 😀
This is so sad. Overcoming the urge to tell secrets also has its tax to pay 😦 good one. Good to stop by after so long 🙂
Yes, you are so right about the’tax’! Good to see you here, Afshan 🙂
Hey Shail, hope things okay with you. It’s touching but sad.
All fine, Vishal. Remember, I am a creative writer 😉 😀
