What it’s all about: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist. Each week Lillie Mcferrin posts a one word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate will write a five sentence story based on the prompt word. This week’s word: SPOILED
She stared in dismay at the steel vessel still sitting on the kitchen counter instead of, as she had imagined, in the cool confines of the refrigerator.
The milk was sure to have spoiled, and her husband due any minute too, asking for his morning cup of tea, with lots of milk, please.
Hearing footsteps coming down the stairs she squared her shoulders, mentally preparing for his short-tempered outburst with some cutting remarks thrown in about her forgetful ways and lack of organisational skills.
His face appeared at the kitchen door and he said, “Listen, I will have black tea today, with lemon, but no honey, Honey!”
She returned his smile before scurrying off to search the vegetable basket, hoping to find that damn lemon.

He wanted it black, not white
Giving her some respite
Did she get her lemon
Of the morning seven?
That will be recondite!

What an escape! Lovely. With the amount of money I have lost by spoiled milk, I could have built a castle. 🙂
