Yesterday’s dreams
stuffed into Ziploc bags
stored in the deep freeze
frozen, not forgotten.
*
Yesterday was once an anticipated Tomorrow
a savored Today
and finally just another day confined to memory
jostling for prime space with other yesterdays.
*
Yesterday was rain
today sunshine
Of what tomorrow holds
confusion reigns
*
Yesterday’s pages
indiscriminately modified by the unscrupulous
to suit today’s needs
and tomorrow’s greed.

So, so eloquent! I loved the image of ‘dreams stuffed into ziploc bags’ and the last poem as well. A beautiful observation on how malleable history is.
Thanks Zainab. The many interpretations to suit your objective is all too evident when it comes to history.
A beautiful yesterday decorated with pristine beauty, aesthetic wrapped gift and candies:)
Thanks, Vishal. 🙂
beautiful .. 🙂
Thanks, SG 🙂
Your quatrains are excellent aphorisms in themselves, not to mention the breathtaking imagery. One lives these verses.
I particularly liked the third one… where the pun in the last line floors me!
Superb craft.
Your comment is mucho appreciated, Usha. Thank you! 🙂
True true. I particularly liked the last stanza. Reminds me of what we have done to the environment to suit ‘development’
Yes, speaks for that too I guess. 🙂
A beautiful photo. And I loved your quatrains! 🙂
Welcome to Shail’s Nest, Linda, and thank you 🙂
Ah, yesterday. How I wish we could get it back, how much we could change. Lovely pic and well written.
Do stop by my latest post too!
Thank you, Ash. Nice to see you 🙂
Truly beautiful.
Thank you 🙂
Lovely quatrains. I wish I could weave them as beautifully as you have.
Oh you write them beautifully, Pooja! 🙂
Wow Brilliantly written. Like they say yesterday is history , tomorrow is mystery, today is PRESENT – a gift
Loved the lines Shail
Thank you! 🙂
And you are adept at verse too! Is there anything you don’t do as well as the others? Loved it, and it rang true. Must remember, it is just another day……
BTW what bird is that? Starlings?
Ayyo blushing at the appreciation 😀 Yes, it is a Chestnut-tailed Starling, also called Grey-headed Myna 🙂
