WordPress is funny. It tells me that this is my 406th post and in the report says I have only 398 to my credit. Hello! Need extra fingers to count?! 😉
Shail this could be because you have moved to a new blog.
It can’t be IHM for then I would be only about 6-7 blogs old. WP is definitely counting all my old blogs. When I posted this it told me this was my 406th post. 🙂
But yes, viewership is counted only from the time I have moved to WP. Rest everything is from the whole lot. 🙂
First here too, in the New Year? :D! Just going through the details, and Wow! In the short space that this Nest has been warmed (after the shifting 🙂 ), there is so much that has touched each of us 🙂 Happy blogging in 2012 too… and wishes for a great year ahead!

May be WP’s count for the year stops at Nov? That could be the reason 🙂

I loved my Omni and was very very sad to see it go. 😦 Now we have a Wagon R and I hardly drive.

I enjoyed reading your Omni driving experience.
I had a Wagon R for seven years and sold it last year.
Prior to that I had a Premier Padmini for 13 years.
Before that I rode motor cycles (Yezdi and later Bullet) before settling for a Kinetic Honda Scooter which was an additional conveyance for me whenever I traveled alone.
Now the Reva is my only transport.
It meets our present needs. We are just two of us now and I don’t go far. Not more than 20 km a day and the running cost for an entire month is about Rs 400/- only. Petrol was Rs 43 per litre four years ago when I bought it and it is now Rs 73 per litre in Bangalore.
On the rare occasion I need a proper car, we hire a cab with the driver.
I have given up trying to persuade my wife to learn driving.
She appears incapable of learning. It’s a psychological problem. No physical handicap.
She is all tense and grips (make that Grippps) the wheel and I can see the veins in her neck popping out from under the skin as she holds the steering wheel tightly and nervously, refusing to relax. She loses her nerve when she sees a truck or bus coming in the opposite direction. She can drive a car, if you take her to an aircraft runway and allow her exclusive use of the entire width and length of the runway.
But she is skilled at driving the driver (me)
I have four pairs of eyes when I drive. Two of mine and two of hers. I don’t need to watch out for speed-breakers. She issues warnings from a 100 yards away. She keeps an eagle eye open for scarce parking slots when we go out and insists on guiding me when I reverse the car, helps me monitor servicing requirements and never allows me to forget filling up air and petrol in time and leaving it at the service center per schedules. She also keeps the insurance payments up to date.
When I drive she also keeps fiddling with all the switches that have nothing to do with the cars motion (the AC, fan, the wiper, the power window etc) and the rear view mirror outside her window, while I drive. She constantly reminds me to turn on the right or left turn indicators. and keeps asking me to “watch out for —-“, Most husbands would find it intolerable. I have got used to it.
Now that cabs are available, for half a day for Rs 400 she uses it for long trips when I am not around or not available.
A new scheme is even more attractive. On receiving your phone call, an agency sends a driver over to drive your car and you pay them Rs 200 for half a day. That beats cab hire charges. Even after you add the petrol charges it’s a lot cheaper than hiring a cab with driver for the full day (Rs 800 for 80 km, 8 hours)
In revenge for her not learning to drive, I have not learned to cook.
Good arrangement. Mutual dependence is assured! Another secret of our long happy married life!
