From a dog
Picture taken on 30/04/2011
The Delhi summers are too hot
In the Red Fort I have found a cool spot
Uh-ho here comes the shutterbug lady
There is no time to groom and look dandy
But what’s this?!! Oh bother, the security guards!
How dare they chase me, the blackguards!
Where can a poor dog go in this sweltering heat?!
You people stay in sheltered houses so neat!
Grrr… For my misfortune, the lady is to be blamed
But for her the guards would never have chased!
Sigh! Now I have to go find another place
Jeez! You mean humans! Give homeless dogs also some space!

The poor doggie…. leave him alone will ya!! 😀 😛
Nice poem…pretty much captured his mind I say! 🙂
@Ashwathy,
Errr… How did I miss this comment?! :O
Thanks 🙂
@Shail, Talk about late reaction! 😀 LOL
@Ashwathy,
Lol, yeah 😉 I don’t even know why I opened this post today 😛 A real mystery! 😀
Very nice poem, Shail! Here, he looks so comfortable! The area must be very cool!
@Sandhya,
Thank you. Yes, it must be cool. There were more around. But this one seems to have got the best place inside! 😛
Let sleeping dogs lie.
Even if they catch your eye.
Now see what you have done.
You may have had your fun.
But the guards chased it away.
Cruelly on a hot day.
I would have left it alone.
Or perhaps gifted it a bone.

PS:
Cute pic.
I once saw one sleeping on the rear seat of an autorickshaw on a hot summer’s day.
It was the only spot with some shade.
The driver was missing.
I was about to honk using the rickshaw’s rubber pom pom (the compressed air horn).
But considereation for that doggie, made me change my mind.
I looked for and found another auto rickshaw some distance away.
Doggie’s reverie was undisturbed for some more time.
I wish I had a camera handy to capture that serene moment.
@G Vishwanath,
Thank you. Arre wah, are you following Govind’s footsteps?? Nice rhyming lines 🙂 Dog in an autorickshaw! That was kind of you to leave him alone and go look for another auto.
Bah! They say it’s a dog’s life
and of that there is no strife
I want to end this lowly life
and be born as kitteh if there’s a afterlife
in the household of the colonel’s wife.
Looks like I have not lost touch. 🙂
@Govind,
You think just a little trip would?? Lol, of course you haven’t lost your touch! 🙂
Lol @ him wanting to be kitteh 😛
Ha ha! So you can understand Dognese, can you, Shail? Seems to be exactly what the dog would have said! 😀
@manju,
Dognese or Doglish?? 😀 We felt sorry for him as the guards chased him off and I probably thought this is what he is thinking!
I came back to read other poems here…they are always interesting, Shail!
@Sandhya,
Lol, yes they always are! 🙂
Sad .. poor dog ..
but he seems to be having a pleasant sleep …
Bikram’s
@Bikram,
He was sleeping. But when I clicked, the guards saw me and came and chased him away. Poor fellow 😦
BAD GUARD… I hate him now
How could the guard do that!? That was so unnecessary! He deserved a long lecture on compassion 😦
