A friend to me:

I know I should not be saying this

To a diehard romantic like you O Miss

But…. don’t you think it is all hype

Is not Love, nothing but tripe??!

Me to friend:

Grrr… don’t you dare pour cold water

On my heartfelt beliefs, in this manner

Or else get ready for a tryst with my fist

Love in all its splendor does exist!

Friend to me:

I am sorry lady, I meant no harm

Love I know works like a charm

At heart I am a romantic too

Like love-birds the wife and I coo.

Me to friend:

Aha… now the cat is out of the bag

It is clear you were trying to nag

So now you and I on one thing agree

Love is not merely a fallacy!

*This is what ensues when you play Scrabble on FB and the word ‘Love’ is followed by ‘Tripe’. I took the liberty (with the aid of imagination), of turning the few lines exchanged into a full-fledged poem, if you can call it that.*
