I sometimes speculate

how might you look

if one day we met

minus the mask that you don

With the mask off

will the creases on your forehead look deeper

will the light in your eyes look brighter

will your smile be open and truer…

When your pores breathe in the fresh air

will your skin shine,

and your feelings show through freely, unrestrained…

Will I be able to, with clarity

see, what I so long to see…

Love in the corners of eyes that crinkle

love in the up-turn of your lips

love in a crease-less forehead

love in the uninhibited words of your heart…

Will there come a day

when you will let me see you as you are

minus the mask you don

all of the twenty-four hours in a day.
