The descent is tiring
Through paths winding
Surreal the feeling
Of ascent rewinding
But enough for today
Tomorrow is another day
Though the spirit is willing
My feet are killing.

@Sundeep,
Lucky you! Enjoy yourself π
Those were fun lines LOL!!
and liked the lines
“Surreal the feeling
Of ascent rewinding”
I’m always energetic to set out on a trip, the return is ‘feet killing’ of course, but also the spirits rise because it will be soon time to crash into your bed.
@Nanka,
Thank you π Yeah, and that crash into bed is bliss as much as the trek is π
The hungry hawk, sighting a mouse, began its steep DESCENT.
It was a SURREAL and chilling experience watching it swiftly and silently moving in for the KILL.
The poor mouse had no chance.
The next instant it was in the air flailing helplessly, held firmly by the hawk’s beak.
If a mouse could scream, the sound would have echoed in the valley.
Nature’s rules are cruel Eat or be eaten.
cool !! nice tale π
@G Vishwanath,
You must have a blog of your own π You do come up with lovely responses to 3WW prompts π
I rarely go on for treks .. but this was surely an interesting read ! Simple and effective π

@Nunee,
Welcome to Shail’s Nest and thank you. π
You basically summed up my day lol
I liked it a lot π
@Ren,
Welcome to Shail’s Nest and thank you π
When we went to Trichy malaikottai temple, we felt exactly like this, Shail! Though it was tough climbing up, coming down was even tougher and our legs were shaking, really!
You are great, Shail!
@Sandhya,
Coming down is always tougher, in every sense π Thank you Sandhya for your lovely words for me. But I am not, really, just another human being π Hugs to you.
While ascending, if we felt it difficult, option was there to stop and come down! But once we are up, we have to come down to earth!
@Sandhya,
You have spoken another profound truth! First it was that coming down is tougher and now what has reached the top has no other option but to descend. π I salute you Sandhya π
@Shail, Only after reading my comment now, I realised the meaning of my words, haha! I couldn’t believe I wrote this, thank you Shail! May be, you have inspired me!
Surreal the feeling
Of ascent rewinding
Liked these lines a lot !
@Ruchira Shukla,
Thank you π
It was a rewind of my trek experiences…Thanks
@Lost in thoughts,
You are welcome π Thanks for dropping by.
I remember the treks from my *ahem* younger days.
And as always, climbing was not as difficult(tiring surely, but not difficult ) as coming down.
One had to be ultra cautious while coming down…one wrong step and there are chances of one going the jack-n-jill way π
@momofrs,
Yeah, coming down is difficult, tougher on your legs too. Now we don’t want to go the jack-and-jill way, do we??! π
Very funny! And to answer your question, yes, the force is strong in this one! Really well done.
@V L Sheridan,
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed reading it π
nice thoughts and pictures
@sajeev,
Welcome to Shail’s Nest and thank you.
I always thought ascent and descent are two different views. Is that why you used the word ‘surreal’? I like those lines..overall a good rhyme.
@Vivek,
Yes Vivek. As you come down it is like reversing the ascent, it gives a surreal feeling is what I meant. π
Thank you.
really great read, thanks.
@ThomG,
Thank you π
LOL.. yeah.. the feet do kill. Waiting for summer to go on Treks, this is making me wish summer was here.
@Rashmi,
I think even my walking days are over ! π¦
