Sleeping Bliss !!!! π Wish I can forget the World and sleep like this…. π π Lovely shot…but where is this ????
@UmaS,
You are right, sheer bliss on his/her face. This is in Fisherman’s Wharf, California. Pier 39 there has a lot of seals. Take a look:
Seals! Oh my God, they look drunk on sunlight
@Phoenixritu,
It was fun watching them. One of them would amble over and push a sleeping one into the water and coolly make himself comfortable in that very same spot though ample space was available elsewhere. And they seem to like trampling over the sleeping ones a lot, till they have found a comfortable enough place. π
@Shail, sound like pushy humans, no? We leave for SF in one week. Expect to be there two seeks

When I asked who’s next in the firing line?
I never imagined that it would be the sea lion
thanks for sharing a picture so divine
of these creatures soaking up the sunshine. π :0
@Govind,
I am amazed, you have a quatrain for every blog! π
Lovely- a pile of seals!
They look just like a litter of puppies- only larger in size. π
@manju,
Lol, yeah they do look like a litter of giant puppies π
I can see a lot of space there; why do they sleep on one another then!!! silly seals !! π π
@vimmuuu,
They like trampling on the sleeping ones and squeezing in between those already piled up! Lol, ‘Silly Seals’ sounds apt!! π
@Shail, still wondering how to change photo of me and Jimi on this page whare I make comments. Ideas?
@Bob Hoff,
Bob, change the picture associated with the e-mail you use to post here. Hope that helps π
Hi Shail – I spent ages watching the seals on Fishermans Wharf. Apparently they used to be on an island out in the Bay until a storm came (some years ago) they ran for cover to Fishermans Wharf and have stayed there ever since.
My favourite moment is when a sleeping seal gets nearer and nearer to the sloping edge and eventually falls off into the water. And don`t they make a noise? Anne
@Anne,
Welcome to Shail’s Nest Anne and thank you. I did not know why the seals were at Fisherman’s Wharf. Thanks for sharing. My son and I spent quite sometime watching the scene. I imitate the bark of a seal to amuse the family or irritate them as the case may be! π
Awesome… the first shot is tooooooo good… !!!!! best WW pic I saw so far today !!!!
@hitchy,
Thanks You, thank you! *beaming* π
That is a really great pic! Look at them lazing in the sun! Lucky buggers!
@Dreamer,
Lol, yeah. When they have enough of the sun they jump into the water and swim π
They are so lovely!! Would love to visit this place..
@Priya Iyer,
May be you will visit Pier 39 soon π
