There once was a man who had a little of Everything
But a whole lot of Nothing
And yet he gave freely of his Everything
To himself keeping just Nothing
Then one lucky day he got not little, but all of Everything
He realized soon the difference, Nothing was but Nothing
Everything was after all Everything
He made up his mind to preserve Everything, never let it turn to Nothing.
Afraid as he was to lose Everything
He became stingy and threw out Nothing
He carefully rationed out Everything
Not wanting to end up like before with Nothing
Finally he stopped and bestowed nothing of his Everything
Willing now only to give Nothing
Hence close to his heart he hugged Everything
And offered nothing at all ……except Nothing.

Somebody ought to tell him “Nothing ” succeeds like success
The mind gets shrivelled when obsessed with what we possess
“Everything” in excess of what we really need causes distress
The only way out is to give away what we don’t need as largess! 🙂
Me: Govind, I bow before you the Master Four-liner! 🙂
THOUGHT-PROVOKING PHILOSOPHY WRITTEN SO WELL THAT EVEN YOUNGER READERS MIGHT “PROFIT” FROM IT IF THEY READ IT. EXCELLENT!
YOUR WRITING MAKES ME WANT TO TRY TO CATCH AND EXPRESS IDEAS LIKE YOU DO, BUT WHEN I TRY, “WRITER’S BLOCK” RISES UP AND BLOCKS THE SUNSHINE OF POTENTIAL CREATIVITY.
“ONCE THERE WAS A MAN TRIED TO WRITE CONCISELY AND MEANINGFULLY WITH TUGS AT THE HEART, BUT WRITER’S BLOCK SAID, “NOT ON MY WATCH, JUNIOR :o)
IF I CAN’T WRITE IT, I STILL CAN SURE ENJOY READING IT.
THANKS FOR SHARING WHAT YOU DO SO WELL.
Me: Bob, such lavish praise! Thank you my friend. BTW I don’t think Writer’s Block really meant what it said. Or else how come Bob’s comments are always such a delight to read with their subtle and sometimes not so subtle humor?? 🙂
Brilliantly put Shail!!! Nothing is gained by giving nothing! Nothing is invested, nothing we will reap.
Me: IHM, thank you. Your words ring true!
wow!! I most of them time, get nothing out of proses but this time you made sure i get everything out of something.
Great writing and great thinking too. *takes a bow*
Me: Thank you Aditya for the generous words. Now its my turn *takes a bow* 🙂
Shail, I am tired of praising you. 🙂 Every piece you write seems the best. I now have a collection of your posts. A huge fan of your posts.
Me: Well Solilo, I am honored. Thank you so much. 🙂

Destination Infinity
Me: He gave nothing to others except ‘Nothing’ which again means he gave nothing. 🙂
Oh sorry – except nothing
Destination Infinity
Shail,
In the first two lines, you say he had (little of) everything but had (a whole lot of) nothing. How can he have nothing if he had everything?
What am I missing?
Cheers,
Salil
Me: Hmmm… I guess it is this little matter of your being a financial wizard that does not let you see how he could have a little of Everything and a whole lot of Nothing! 😉 😆
This is wonderful Shail…and so true. Beautifully penned. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thank you 🙂
