I have in me
Invisible switches
There is one for less
Another for more
Others are for degrees of less
And the rest for grades of more
Some need very less
Some even more
And at times a little less
At other times a great deal more
When I give less
You crave for more
When you need only less
I offer you a lot more
How little is less
How much is more
I know very less
Not now, not any more
So press the right switch when you need only less
And choose right when you want much more
A saga of how less is less
And how much more is more
Is how my story goes
More or less.

It’s always this battle
between more and less
That could give us that solace,
or cause us some stress
Less may whip up a mess;
more may open a door
Or the other way round –
it’s just so hard to know
But what I do know,
is it’s always a fight;
Blessed be the day
when I get it just right.

PS: I hear you π
Me: Glad to be heard π That was good Gauri. Blessed is the day when we get it right!
I must honestly confess
that whatever you profess
is always less to impress
and more outwardly to express
that we don’t mind if it’s less
and also when it goes in excess
the words they always caress.
Me:
“is always less to impress
and more outwardly to express”
Thank you Govind for that perception.
Read it more or less!!!!!!!!!!
Me: Ahh… a more or less comment?? π
Nice poetry, I think it is better to have all these switches than just plain on and off, which will be very predictable. Nice comments also.
Me: Ahh, different switches for the different grades?? Sort of like the ones for fans?? π Thank you Krishnan
It’s difficult in life, to get the math of more or less, exactly right!
Me: Absolutely right Manju! π

Nice poetry and amazing how you manage to get response and some more thoughts on the same.. and in verse too!
Me: Thanks IHM. Yeah the responses in verse are amazing!
I read and loved your comment on your heartbreaking, sensitive and extremely relevant post about some kinds of mother, but it asked me to sign it to Multiply, I did that but not sure if the comment has reached you!
Me: I got the comment IHM and thank you! π
Less is more, or more is less – I dunno, but this verse made my head spin
Me: Is it spinning more or less or spinning more or less?? π
I like this poem a lot, Shail, and the exercise it gives my brain. A delightful excursion into an interesting topic–vintage Shail Mohan.
Me: Thanks Bob! π
