Captive words

I am gagged.

Your silence

has taped my mouth shut

Words of love

held captives

within the walls of my heart

jostle, push and shove

to break free

and dance in abandon for you.

Caged in the dark confines

of my pulsing flesh and blood heart

they long for escape

to roam free

and reveal

what they feel.

But…

I am gagged

Your silence has

taped my mouth shut.

Incarcerated

my words of love

failures in their search for expression

asphyxiate

and die a silent death.

  2. Yes, Happy International Women’s Day, Shailaja.

Once again, your writing makes me think. I want to try to write love poetry, but I have a fear that it will start out, “Roses are red, violets are blue…”

The mystery of this poem–why is the man silent, what is his motivation, etc. Do you, as the author, know why or are you just discovering and reporting conflict between a man and woman?

Your phrases are interesting and descriptive and enjoyable to read. Another great job!

  3. Its a matter of discovering each other’s language of love, and attempting to connect best, in a manner that assists both the parties feel loved.

As usual a Fantastic writeup Shail Mam!

My Belated Women’s Day wishes to you! Keep Smiling!
    :)
