Trailing iceplant is only one of its aliases. It also goes by other names like pink carpet, hardy iceplant, Cooper’s hardy iceplant. Scientifically though it goes by Delosperma cooperi. But what’s really in a name to paraphrase the Bard. A pretty flower is pretty whatever you call it.
I read that it is native to South Africa. Hmmm… I wonder what it was doing way north in Serbia, for it is there that I clicked these pictures while on the way to the riverfront (Danube), The trailing plant and its pretty flowers were growing in a pot on the front wall of a house. I was captivated by its beauty and had to stop to click it.
Hmm… I wonder if it is the same flower that I had seen growing like a pink carpet (an apt name!) in oceanfront gardens in California on my very first visit there. Quite possible.

What fun to find a familiar plant growing in Serbia!
It’s always a pleasure to find something familiar, isn’t it?
Plants are found all over the place these days and I suspect my country peeps had much to do with that!
True enough. But Ken, I don’t think your countrymen have been to Serbia. Why I say so is that they still drive on the right side, which is the wrong side for us both 😛
Ah thats those pesky Europeans for you, Shail. They were never any good at following sensible rules 😉
🤣
How lovely this plant is. Love the colour. I hope she’s not missing her homeland too much!
I hope not 😀 She looked happy enough there!
