‘Never ever!’ I said once about something, and it came back to bite me where it hurts. I had to do it all over again and in the process go through every associated discomfort once again. Ever since I am cautious about the never-ever I throw around.
I am never going there ever again, says someone. And lo behold, they simply will have to go there, wherever that is. I am never doing this again, never ever! says someone else and you can bet your last rupee that they will indeed be forced to do whatever it is they did not want to in the first place. Never ever am I going to do anything for them. That’s a third. By now you know what’s gonna follow. They will end up having to do something for this mysterious ‘them’ they wanted to avoid at all costs. Never going to attempt this again! A fourth states in relief once some extremely difficult task is over. In a matter of hours or days or months, they will have to attempt it all over again.
What kind of sorcery is this? Who is this out there, with a sick sense of humour let me add, keeping tabs of the nevers and evers being thrown around by us? Aha! Never, huh? Is that what you said? Never ever, too eh? Gotcha there. Here take one more of them that you’d never ever wanted. Let’s see how you deal with it this time around. Add to it a sinister laughter and the picture is complete. Scary, right?
Hmm… So in conclusion, never say never if you really want it to be never ever 😉
(Don’t take me seriously people. That was written in jest. You say what you want and I will too 🙂 )

I never say such things aloud any longer – I’m sure it is witches hearing us say it that puts the kibosh on it! There are several things I have said “never again” to in my head and so far have not been made to eat my unspoken words. I think that’s proof of the efficacy of my thinking…?
Haha! I should also start thinking ‘never again’ only in my head from now on. 😀
I have uttered those words too often! I know certain foods make me feel ill and after a reaction I will swear that I will never eat them again – but as soon as I feel good, I can’t seem to resist the temptation!
I know someone close to me, who does the same! 🙂
