Write about your dream home.
Hmm… This is a difficult one to answer, …or is it? Let me try.
My dream home. First the location. Where do I want it to be?
Do I want it by the sea? I love the sea.
Do I want it perched on a mountain top? I love mountains.
How about a home by the placidly flowing river? I love rivers.
Maybe the forest is where I want to be living high up in a tree house. (I can hear some of you tittering reading this. “You! Haha. You are afraid of creepy-crawlies and you want to live in a treehouse? Hahahaha!”)
Ha. I can’t make up my mind. They all seem such lovely propositions.
But…
A home is definitely not defined by where it is situated however beautiful the location. It is the people living in it and their harmony that makes it a home.
You can build a house anywhere you want, by the river or the sea, in the mountains or a forest, in the busy city or a relatively calm village. You can be living in a high rise apartments in a concrete jungle or a shack by the railway track. All these can be. your dream home too if (and that’s a big IF) there is harmony, if there is love and respect for each other, if they listen to and try to understand one another, if there is acceptance and also room for growth FOR ALL.
So my dream home will be one where there’s harmony, respect, love, acceptance, understanding, and freedom to grow. And also Luci.
Having said that, material things do matter.
So my dream home will also have food on the table, and clean water to drink. plenty of fresh air blowing through it, a roof that will not leak, and whose windows shall open to a view of trees where birds roost and there. There I go. I think I better stop now, though not before I add books to the lot. Books, books, books, I definitely need books!

I have lived in various places and in some rather inhospitable environments and fully agree with your requirements for a good home – and the LOTS of books! It is true that home is where the heart is.
I am glad you agree, Anne! 🙂
Ah this line killed me:
“And also Luci.”
We have similar views of dream homes – especially forests, sea, rivers etc. I would add a steam train rumbling away in the near distance too – and I need it to be WARM and preferably have the sounds of nature you only hear in Asia.
As regards the human element of your perfect home…I would have agreed ten years ago. I’m less keen on hairless apes these days. I think I’d quite like a home where I can zoom chat people I care about often and ‘occasionally’ have them come to visit. For short periods. Otherwise, just me, my books, my music and nature – thank you very much!
On second thoughts, I have to agree with you about occasional visits being enough 😅
A dream home for me would be a home located on the countryside that is full of nature, quiet and is surrounded by a great community, positive and uplifting people, and lots of furry friends too :D. Used to live in a very small town/rural area years ago where I started my first professional job, and for some reason it felt very much like home with nature and green mountains. I moved from there since, but still miss the place at times. Definitely identify as a small town girl.
I asked my husband this question – His is a home with a basement where he can be lazy and watch basketball and American football all day in peace 😜
I agree, I’d never want to make my home in a big city!
