I read somewhere that people in jobs where they interact with people on a daily basis need more sleep than even those who do more physical labor. Let me make it clear that I don’t remember where I read it or WHETHER IT IS EVEN THE TRUTH. What I do know is that on days I meet up with people, and even if I have had the best of times with them, not only do I need more sleep, I also end up with a headache.
Is it any wonder then that the activities of the past few weeks have taken its toll on me? There was a picnic with my apartment buddies, the monthly get-together with my large girls group, a meet up with my close friends, the writers club meet, visits to houses of members of the extended family… The list goes on.
The truth is I enjoyed every one of those moments, and yet the unwelcome visitor came knocking. In fact it made itself so much at home that I was forced into hibernation for a few days. Music lessons had to be missed, clothes piled up, food had to be ordered and reading became out of question.
Unlike most people who take to their rooms and rest (no lights, no sound!), I was out there walking restlessly up and down, tiring myself out before sleep overtook me. That’s the strategy that calms me. Keep moving around.
Anyways…
All of that is behind me for now. I am back in my element and guess what…. I am once again off on a day trip with my girl pals, and some as yet unknown faces, on the morrow. Shhh! Not a word to the spoilsport, or it is sure to come in search of me. This time I hope to enjoy the day to the hilt and return home minus a headache. Keeping my fingers crossed.🤞

Gosh, you lead a busy life indeed! That is wonderful. As a teacher I was busy with hundreds of people all day every day, but since retirement I find a day of interacting with people in a social way leaves me feeling tireder than usual. It is worth it though. Enjoy your outing!
It does seem so Anne 😀 Thank you!
Age certainly is letting us know that it is catching up with us!
I hope the day trip goes well!
Thank you, Ken 🙂
I can kind of see that haha, when you are busy taking care of things and meeting people constantly, that you eventually have no time for yourself to rest and are tired. Been in that situation so many times :p
