I have something in common with Cinderella. No, not the cruel stepmother or step sisters. Not the pumpkin carriage or a fairy godmother. Not the prince or a lost glass slipper. We both wait with bated breath for the clock to strike the midnight hour. Cinderella has to leave the ball and rush home like her fairy godmother has instructed her, and I have to rush through my written work and post it on my blog as instructed by me to my self.
Before I start every blogathon I remind myself that this last minute rush is NOT acceptable. Why can’t you utilize time in a better way, woman? I ask myself. Write your post during the day, and read your book or play your games at night. Sound advice. But me won’t listen to me. Sheesh, that sentence makes me sound like the whatsisname godman. If you haven’t heard him go ‘Me in me, is talking to me in you,’ you don’t know what you are missing. Go google him.
Anyway, as I was saying, I don’t listen to the good advice I get from myself. I keep the writing for the day as the last item on my list. The best time is night, when everyone is asleep and the house is quiet. But the result? I end up doing a Cinderella. Watch the clock as it ticks, while I rush to finish writing. Cinderella lost her glass slipper while she rushed out of the ball at the last minute. Believe it or not, writing at the last minute yesterday and rushing to post, I seemingly lost a whole blog post.
I distinctly remember posting it. Today morning I even checked the ‘likes’ I got and the comments. But I opened my blog page just a while back and, no new post anywhere to be seen. Wtf! Who killed my post? Where had they hidden the body? Had I killed it myself by mistake and thrown it into the nearest (or farthest) dumpster? Okay, it must be clear by now that I watch too many detective shows. What I meant was that, had I, or my clumsy fingers, sent it unknowingly to the trash? I checked the trash. It had no trash in it. This was getting more mysterious by the minute.
Where was I to start looking for my missing blog post? Oh yes. The Facebook page. I went click-click, opening said page in two clicks. Phew. There it was. I laid that sneaking suspicions, that I had dreamed of writing it and also seeing the likes and comments, to rest. Anything can happen in dreams. In my dreams, anyway. Quite recently I was saving a young Dalai Lama from gun toting ‘bad’ people in a foreign country. Yes, I was a secret agent entrusted with his safety. True story of a dream.
So there the link was on my Facebook page, in black and white. One more click and I found the body… no, I mean the blog post in person, very much alive and kicking. Why aren’t you on Shail’s Nest on WordPress though? I asked it. No answer. And then I found it. The date was all wrong. It said Nov-6-2020. Huh? Who moved my cheese… I mean who moved my blog post back in time?!!! Hearing my question, I had to hang my head in shame. The culprit was me, none else but me. In my race against the midnight hour, I had made a blooper and sent the blog post back in time. December had become November. Not to worry though, I have restored it to its rightful place.
Oh no! I have to hurry now. I am about to lose my metaphorical glass slipper again. The clock is about to strike the midnight hour!
