The first time she took the initiative to call him had been on the day of the Festival of Colors, Holi.
As soon as he picked up the phone, she heard the sounds of merrymaking in the background and felt contrite about having disturbed him at the wrong time.
He put her doubts to rest, and she felt special, lucky even, that he found time to speak to her amidst the revelry.
More such Festival of Colors came and went in the ensuing years, days in which they found joy in calling each other up, and yet with each passing year the distance between them seemed to grow to match the distance between the places they stayed.
Then it happened, a year that came when the Festival of Colors turned totally colorless as their phones failed to ring; their luck had finally run out as they had lost each other’s number.

What it’s all about: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist. Each week Lillie McFerrin posts a one word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate can write a five sentence story based on the prompt word. The word does not have to appear in the five sentences, and is just for direction. This week: LUCKY

Time waits for no one. Good story.
Thank you, and welcome to Shail’s Nest 🙂
Didn’t they ever meet? I am kind of sad ,I am sure they would have enjoyed being together more often.
Yes, I guess so 🙂
Losing numbers is still a good reason. These days in the mad rush no one has time even if mobiles have numbers saved!
Good one Shail
That’s so true!
Thanks, Afshan 🙂
Good read, Shail. Enjoyed it 🙂

Sad but sometimes it is inevitable. Life moves too fast!
Yes, it does, sadly so.
That’s why you should have cell phones! 😛 You won’t have to remember numbers!
And when you lose your phone all the numbers are gone! 😉 Has happened to me 🙂
Oh no !! Why did they lose the numbers ? May be not the right person for them !!
But I like happy ending romantic stories 😀
Not all stories end happily 🙂
