Laxmi Vilas Palace at Baroda π
Wow…… simply magnificent!
@Abha Midha,
Isn’t it?? π
It’s a palace where people live or is it a government property?
It’s fantastics! π
@Nethra,
Welcome to Shail’s Nest π This still belongs to the Royal family and they live on the top floors which are out of bounds for tourists.
This is only a partial view from one side. Look here for a full frontal view of the palace.
“…..was built by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III in 1890 at a cost of GBP180,000. Major Charles Mant was the architect.
It is reputed to have been the largest private dwelling built in the nineteenth century and four times the size of Buckingham Palace. At the time of construction it boasted the most modern amenities such as elevators and the interior is reminiscent of a large European country house. It remains the residence of the Royal Family…” says Wiki
