Turn right
Switch off the light
Turn left
It still doesn’t seem right
Thoughts like a kite
On wings, are on a flight
Somewhere inside like termites
Fears eat away tiny bite by bite
The cool night
And the moonlight
Only ignite
Emotions uptight
Lost in a cavern
In life’s downturn
I toss and turn
As restless my insides churn
Trying to discern
The new pattern
In fire I burn
For an upturn I yearn…
Should I re-learn or unlearn
Be stubborn or return
Or like the wick of the lantern
Selflessly and silently burn…??
– Shail Mohan (April 2010)
WOW !!! Written well !!! I yearn so much to write like this, but it never happens for me.
Anyway, why the restlessness ?????
Thanks Uma. 🙂 Actually this was written for a creative challenge over at multiply.com, the topic of which for the week was ‘restless’. 🙂
beautifully written
Thanks Monika. 🙂
Shail, that was just mesmerising. How do you express emotions so well? I have known this feeling so well….to learn or unlearn or to be stubborn or silently burn…..
that was beautiful. I wish I could put it so aptly.
you know, I have copied it down in my note book because it feels like my very own emotion.
Kirti, thanks so much for your lovely words of appreciation. I am glad I could say it for you through my words. 🙂
Com’n Shail
When you go to bed
Just sink in the pillow
Your worry less head
And leave upto Him
To worry for you
’cause if He brought you here
He will also see you through
Lol, that’s an awesome reply in verse Balvinder. 🙂
Don’t worry, I do just what you say and have a good night’s sleep. Like I mentioned above, this was written for a creative exercise, the topic of which had been ‘restless’. 🙂
Yes I understand. From your posts and your pics you don’t look a worrying person at all. Yeh toh Baaton Baaton Mein Kavita Ban gayee, so putting it in my other blog “Kalpana Kee Udaan” where i attempt my poetry and fiction. Thanks for the good word.
You are absolutely right. I am not the worrying kind. 🙂 So Kalpana kee Udaan has a new addition now. 🙂
Love those positive lines Balvinder!
Thanks IHM
So much restlessness.. and brought out very well. Just that I felt the rhyming was too much 🙂 ofcourse my nit-picking only :-)))
Thanks Pal. Lol @ “the rhyming was too much”. Its the same…. some like blue, others like red and still others purple. Some like rhyming verse others don’t. It is just a matter of choice. 🙂
What a beautiful thought Shail. loved the poem. will go through your posts in a day or two. slightly unwell
Thanks Tiku. Get well soon. 🙂
Or get up,
Pick your laptop,
Check the latest Buzz
Or blog hop 🙂
Ha ha 😆
Nothing better to put a stop to that restlessness IHM! 😆
A troubled mind
will one day find
that it was put on the grind
so that it can be refined.
Hoping Pal won’t be reading this 🙂
You put that excellently Govind. And lets see what Pal has to say about it! 😛
LOL, you guys are having a dig at me 🙂 PRG, I knew you had been to Shail’s blog before you left a comment at my ‘shadow’ fiction :-)))
Shail, I actually like rhyming sequences, infact I don’t understand any other form of poetry 🙂
Really Pal??! I thought you were against rhyming poetry! :O
Oh Wow!!!
You actually wrote on being “restless”!!
How DO you manage Shail?? I mean, its such an abstract topic!!
Excellent presentation . Loved it 😀
Thank you Noor! 🙂 Yes, its an abstract topic and this was my expression of it 🙂
I felt so restless reading this 🙂 LOL beautiful but I like your non rhyming poems for some reason. This was a surprise 🙂
Thank you Tiku. 🙂
