What it’s all about: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist, in exactly five sentences.
The arrest was all over the different news channels by mid-morning, the events as recorded on a mobile phone by some anonymous entity, being played endlessly in a loop throughout the day.
The television was never switched on in their home till after dinner, and so none of his family members saw the video footage, of him hurrying out of a building straight into the waiting arms of the law, promptly handcuffed and marched away.
When they did, the shock froze them mid-action, turning them all into stone.
The silence was absolute, till it was broken by the littlest member of the family, who pointed a chubby finger at the television, and bouncing up and down in her baby chair, exultantly crooned, ‘Dadda!’
Any shred of doubt in the minds of the others about a possible mistaken identity vanished the moment they heard her, and with it dawned the painful realization that among them had lived a stranger.
