Words I read fall off as if there wasn’t enough adhesive to make them stick to my brain. I stare at them littering the floor around me and dejectedly bend down to scoop them all up.
Looking around, I see on my table the empty purple jar with its elephant ear like huge handles and drop the gathered words carefully into it. My eyes now fall on the book and I start: the page I had been reading is totally blank.
Of course, I remind myself, the words are now safely in the purple jar …but how was I going to get them all back on to the pages of the book? What if I didn’t get the sentences right, or the sequences?
In panic I jump up, to find the sun already out and shining. A quick glance at the book on the bedside table and I sigh in relief, it had been just a dream …..but what were those things crammed into the purple jar on the table?

Sometimes it is difficult to differentiate between dream and reality! At least you have all the letters in tact. You might make them into sentences in the next dream:)

Haha. I like that. May be the next dream will reveal what’s in store 🙂

I reckon you should shake the jar up and tip them out. Who knows what it might now say?

That’s a wonderful suggestion, Mick 🙂

That is a scary thought indeed. I do have such moments of fear too, but then, I end writing, no matter what. We all do eventually, don’t we, even though we all have had times when we doubted our abilities?

Yeah, true. I was thinking more of a person with aphasia. 🙂

A metaphor for writing as well as a dream! That’s how I’m feeling today.

Hope the days following would be better, Mel.

I love this. And there are definitely times – when I’m tired or stressed – when I look at a page and can make no sense of it, as if the words (or their meanings) have indeed been taken away and put in a jar.

I hear you, oh yes indeed I do! 🙂

I understand the difficulty of distinguishing between dream and reality. Had happened to me as I traveled to South America just recently and had dreams pertaining to it, only to wake and realize that I’m no longer on the ship in that comfy room I am in where I got glaze at the ocean, and that I am back home and my voyage is done 😦

You were on a voyage! That’s nice to know. Hope you had a good time 🙂

How wonderful that you recount your dream of misplaced words with such magnificent prose! 😀
