What it’s all about: Five Sentence Fiction is about packing a powerful punch in a tiny fist. Each week Lillie Mcferrin posts a one word inspiration, then anyone wishing to participate will write a five sentence story based on the prompt word. This week’s word: DEPARTURE.
He pulled a long, woebegone face and mouthed ‘I will miss you’ making his wife smile before she disappeared for security check, with a final wave.
He watched her flight take-off and become a tiny speck in the distance and only then made the call.
It was picked up at the very first ring.
“Hey! How does one week by the sea sound?” he asked and grinned at the gasp of surprise from the other end.
He was whistling as he drove off, unaware of the flurry of activity in the airport as preparations were on to guide the last flight out to make a return emergency landing.

“I will miss you”
Then — rendezvous
She sizzled
He whistled
Flight cancelled — potent brew!
How do you do it, Gulshan?! Perfect! claps in appreciation
‘Tis your content — i just review

From the start I guessed right
somehow, the return of the flight
what now of the bloke’s plight?
looks like it is going to be last rite.
🙂
Something of the sort. 😛
Uh oh…the cat catches the mouse eventually.
Yes, indeed 🙂
I will be enduring the same with my parents when they leave for India in about 3 weeks. Brother and I will be watching them pass through the security exits and board their Emirates flight to Dubai en route to Kerala. And then 3 weeks later go back to airport and fetch them haha.
PS. I love flying and have a small obsession with aviation, and kind of envy my parents that they are taking Emirates as it’s one of the best flights ever.
Emirates is one of the best, I agree! 🙂
Good twist in the tale!
🙂
Ha ha! Loved this twist – brilliantly done as always 🙂
Thank you, Ken 🙂
Pleasure 😉
oops! there goes a week by the sea-side 😛
Hehe, indeed! 😀
Loving the limerick comments more Shail 😀 😀
