He had the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen. Each time he looked at me, my heart just flipped over.
He could never be mine. He already belonged. Yet, unable to contain myself, I asked him one day,
“Do you love me?”
“Of course, I do!”
There was amazement in his voice that I should ever ask such a question.
“How much?”
I couldn’t leave well enough alone. He looked down, frowning.
“Four! I love you FOUR!”
He held up four fingers triumphantly.
I knew it was the best score from someone who could only count up to four.

The most striking lines for me. ‘He could never be mine. He already belonged.’
There’s a depth in that thought that at once gladdens and saddens. 🙂
Beautifully crafted, as always. 🙂

Aww.. awesome, you should think of writing a book – a novel, something humorous, slight serious, maybe a bit romantic and whimsical maybe ??? I’ll be the first to buy it . 🙂
