The average Keralite’s lunch is never complete without rice, fish curry and some vegetable or other prepared with spices and scraped coconut that goes by the name of ‘thoran.’

Shail, you ought to have a Not Safe for Keyboard warning on this because I just ruined mine with a mouthful of drool. Why oh why was I vegetarian during my short stint in kerala?
Haha! Umm.. why were you a vegetarian in Kerala, the land of fish?!
oh, I was but a child then, happily imbibing copious amounts of sambhar with chunks of aviyal on the side. Oblivious to the delicious sin that is a mean meen curry, life as I know it had not even begun.

Watermelon rind thoran – threw out the rind just yesterday, how sad! Mouthwatering dishes. During the last one week all I could cook was some sambar and fish curry (busy with exams). Now I can’t resist cooking anymore. My family must thank you 🙂
so yummy looking!! I did have chicken with coconut curry today, but still that fish curry looks so much better!!
vegetarian here, although my husband swears by goan and malabar fish curry .. whatever that is seems ot be dunked in coconut milk, how can it not taste good 🙂
did you make all of those? chef too, one of your many talents ?
