Shail’s Nest

I was caught in the web I know
Love claimed me for its own I know
I made a mistake I know
You are that mistake I know

I gave you my heart I know
Though I shouldn’t have I know
I was helpless I know
It was Destiny I know

We will never be one I know
Not in this life [...]

I dug holes in the backyard
buried tiny chunks of me
and
over them planted shrubs
for you to see
Some parts are now missing
I am not whole
but
you would never know
of the hollow
for
the green leaves
the pretty flowers
will hold you in their spell
while I weep…

When we met
and knew in an instant
we were meant to be…
when nothing mattered
not the chains that fettered
or the ropes that bound…
when music was
your whispered words
and its rhythm your heartbeat
when it rained nothing but love
washing away eons of loneliness
and the circle of your arms
became the universe
the happiest days of my life
had [...]

A spark that flares
and spreads
uncontainable
irreversible
burning yesterdays
erasing forever
the shell of memories
the cocoon of  comfort
freeing todays
to long for the unknown
dream with abandon
of uncertain tomorrows
shrouded in mists
that never show
what they truly hold.

Draw me out of my past

Hunger burns scorches and chars
Singes my flesh, sears my soul.
The fiery flame rises, flares and blazes
Turning to ashes, the heart’s desires.
I snatch at the scraps thrown my way
Clutch at the straws that blow my way
Nothing is mine its all half-eaten
When hunger gnaws I grab, I’m fallen.

The waves heard my secret
From the gentle breeze that blew
When my love whispered
The words I love you.
They ran with joyous roar
To tell it to the shore
The sands who knew
Blushed in the orange hue
The breeze then told the trees
To the clouds and the bees
And blew on carefree

Feelings trapped within
like birds with stunted wings
unable to soar
not knowing how to fly
flap useless wings
so hard they try.
Will you be my wings my love
and teach me to fly
let me roam the skies
free as any bird that flies..
When I am tired
I’ll return to nest
in the circle of your arms
your sweet embrace
for you are my dream
my heaven [...]

Words of love
held captives
within the walls of my heart
jostle, push and shove
to break free
and dance in abandon for you.
Caged in the dark confines
of my pulsing flesh and blood heart
