Frozen tears

Frozen tears cold as ice

clogging up ducts

too hard to flow

in warm rivulets

down alabaster cheeks

lightening grief

carefully padlocked

in iron chests

away from eyes

that probe and seek.

Frozen tears cold as ice

trapped powerless

struggling to flee

in tiny gasps

of shallow breath

through tinier gaps

cracks and fissures

in a door tightly shut

to ease a heart

bowed down with weight.

  5. Oh dear dear!
    Ice-cold tear?
    Thaw and flow!
    Then, nose blow!
    Finally — light-heart — cheer!

  8. Beautifully crafted Shail. You have vividly captured that yearning to flow and the incapacity to do so. One teeny weeny suggestion – wouldn’t “breath” be a better term than “breathe” – being a noun and all that. I have a feeling it is just a typo…

Ooops Roopa! Thanks for pointing that out. In fact I noticed it in the morning and wanted to edit it and as is usual forgot all about it!! :( Anyways, have done the needful now. Thanks for the appreciation!

  13. Shail, looks like you have written on the eco damage that is going on. Free flow of tears cleanses the soul and free flow of sewage cleans the town. Both shouldn’t be clogged.

PRG, that’s a very valid point!

  14. Shail, pain makes the words flow…circumstances make tears freeze. How beautifully you have said so much…

We need guys like PRG too!

Thanks for the appreciation Vinod. Yeah, PRG is right!
