Shail's Nest

I am lotus
A bloom in the mud
Rooted in mire
Untainted and pure
Fragrant and bright
Rosy pink and shades of white
I am lotus
Divinity
Fertility
Sacred symbol of triumph
Creation and rebirth
For a thousand years patiently I wait
And when woken, regenerate…
Yet…
In the freezing cold I shrink and shrivel
When the Sun sets I droop, sink and drown
And in the darkness die
A thousand deaths…

I was caught in the web I know
Love claimed me for its own I know
I made a mistake I know
You are that mistake I know

I gave you my heart I know
Though I shouldn’t have I know

Your answer confuses and beclouds

over them planted shrubs

Some parts are now missing

the green leaves
the pretty flowers

or the ropes that bound…

your whispered words
and its rhythm your heartbeat
when it rained nothing but love
washing away eons of loneliness
and the circle of your arms
became the universe
