  1. Yes indeed… we simply do not realize the value of things till we have decimated them. Very true of human nature.

Have you read Joyce Kilmer’s “Trees” ??

You would have, I know. Just wanted to share that again too!

True Usha. I am simply fond of trees!! :) Yes I do remember the poem. How can I forget the last lines,
“Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree”

  2. I’m reminded of the Chipco movement in Rajasthan, where the villagers hugged the trees to stop the contractors from cutting them down.

Now that you tell me ,yeah Manju!

  3. So True…
I am reminded of an incident in school, where a young girl who plucked a pretty pink rose received a tight pinch from the garderner nun. In response to her indignant queries, the nun responded ” Hurt u, didn’t it?. Now think of that poor plant u left bleeding behind you”
I don’t think the girl plucked another flower for fun after that!!!

Ouch! Just the thought hurt, Rekha and I am not going to pluck a flower in the near future! ;)

  4. So very touching!I wonder when will human beings cease being so insensitive?

Thanks Deeps! I am so fond of trees. I had a lovely one outside my window in my previous house. Now I have only a gray facade to look at! :(

  5. Shail, I don’t know if you had visited http://www.gotejas.com from my blog roll. He is a young blogger(older to me in blogging-like you said what is in a age) studying first or second standard. He is my colleague’s wife’s student. Please check it out when you have the time and I am sure you can guide him better and encourage him.

Will sure go take a look PRG!

  6. Yeah, you worded what I have always felt. I do find trees as humble friends, who but love you immensely in thought.
A Kahlil Gibran line I recollect: The earth delights to feel your bare feet, and the winds long to play with your hair.

  7. hmmm :(

I miss those lushy coconut trees back home… I never bat my eyes when I travel from Chennai to Trissur in Allapey Express… I love watching those lushy trees… Hmmm many a times I think of writing a blog about the way I once felt about trees. God knows if would ever write one??!!??

This one is really touching… :(
